Audience Development @ Aliance Francaise - Sat 28 July 07

Invest in the Youth

Theme: Audience Development

Summary:
It's a shame that SABC's music content policy is 75% international music and 25% South African music, we as youth and local music lovers plan to change the status quo. The goals and mission of this event is about developing audiences and appreciation for local music, many music promoters, night-clubs as well as the television networks mainly cater for international sounds, most times ignoring many talented artists and product coming South Africa. This event creates that necessary and professional platform for artists to perform, mobilize and express themselves.

Our Goals:
Promote job creation
Develop Audiences for our sound
Economic growth for the arts and culture sector
Promote Mitchells Plain Tourism
Bring Arts & Culture activities to M/Plain

The Language of Art and Music:
“An International Symposium on the Potential for Artistic Expression to Cross Cultural Barriers”
(International Conference, Berlin, 17th - 20th February, 2011)
www.icd-languageofartandmusic.org

The use of culture and art to promote dialogue and understanding is a field that, though the subject of much scholarly attention, has had little impact on the behavior and activities of national governments and other stakeholders in international relations. Moreover, whilst there is a widespread agreement of the value of culture and art in raising awareness of cultural differences, there is less understanding of the potential for culture and art to offer a neutral platform for mutual cultural exchange, to transform cultural differences and unite people through emotions. "The Language of Art and Music" will work to bridge the gap between theory and practice by bringing together artists with academic experts from the field and key figures in international relations to discuss the importance of these artistic disciplines.

Speakers for the Conference include:

Professor Adam Chmielewski - Director of the Institution of Culture Wrocław 2016, Rector, Wrocław University (tbc)
Dr. Anastasia Lazaridou - Deputy Director, Byzantine Museum, Athens

www. mitchellsplaintourism.co.za

Mitchell's Plain Tourism forum and Arts & Culture sector, bridging the gap between aspiring and established artist. Since our inception in 1994, we have facilitation venues for artists to perform / display their talents. We have also created platforms for the local communities, who do not often get the opportunity to experience first hand, the wealth of African artists.
The response to all the venues that we have staged, has been so popular, as to inspire us to opening a venue on a permanent basis. We are certain that the following that we have created thus far through our previous events, will bode well in a permanent venue.
We are creating an inter - active platform where visitors and tourists to Cape Town, have the opportunity to get a close-up view of the wealth in South African talent on a permanent basis.
