Mitchells Plain Poetry Book – Submissions

All Mitchells Plain Poets, Writers, Scholars, Educators and interested literature role players.

The Department of Social Development Facilitation Unit –District.3 have facilitated assisted the Arts & Culture Sector via Word DD.
The iniative identified the need of a Mitchells Plain Poetry Book in order to realize the vision poets, writers and role players need to attend the compulsory work session.

The Program are as follows :

Opening & Introduction.Profiling of Mitchells Plain Poets & Writers.
Submittance of poetry, creative pieces and artwork.Way Forward.Closure.

History:

The grand daddy's of dee-jay culture in Mitchells Plain have united to become the MP DJ Association, uniting to not only entertain but also to educate people about this beautiful art-form called Dee-Jaying. We will be hosting regular events at Club Tiffanyz. These events will showcase the old and the new boys and girls on the block. Residents must watch the press for our DJ workshops in the future.

Highlights:

All soccer fans must come early as the UEFA Champions League Final will be shown on the big screen at 8:30pm. Free Mix CD's and T-Shirts will be given away on the night.

Vision & Mission:

• The M/Plain DJ’z Association plans to raise the standard of DJing in M/Plain and the Western Cape, we would like to teach/workshop the youth and the general public about this artform called Dee-Jaying.
• This art could be used to keep our youth off drugs and crime and potentially create employment for it’s members as well as create springboards for them to the other elements in the music industry: eg: sound engineering, stage management, audio technicians, etc.
• We want to put M/Plain on the map as an entertaining city, which it was before the state of emergency during the apartied era.
• M/Plain must demand respect in the music industry as top performers, producing people like: Irma G and Ready D to name a few.
• We have top artists and potential superstars but no platforms exist for them to express themselves.
• Many people used to travel to M/Plain to party we want that VIBE back.
• Most people used to stay in M/Plain to party instead of leaving to drive to other areas.
